LIVINGSTON, IL. (KMOX) – A three vehicle accident on I-55 near Livingston Illinois sent three teens to a St. Louis Hospital by ARCH helicopter.

Illinois State Police Master Sergeant Brent Beltz says the teens were in a minivan that side swiped one car and rear ended another that had been stopped for construction.

The teens were thrown from the minivan because they weren’t wearing seat belts and Master Sergeant Beltz says that will mean serious charges against the driver.

The driver from West Dundee, Illinois now faces three charges of failure to secure a child in a restraint, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and for improper lane change.

The teens, from West Dundee Illinois, suffered serious but not life threatening injuries.  Sgt. Beltz says initial reports that a semi was involved were inaccurate.

Initial reports indicated a semi was also involved in the accident.  Sgt. Beltz says that was not the case.
