CHESTERFIELD, MO (KMOX) – It was Chesterfield’s turn last night to hear about proposed Metropolitan Sewer District rate increases…….And while the crowd was smaller and not quite as vocal as Tuesday night’s group in the Central West End, the sentiment was the same. The rate increase is coming at a bad time economically.

Jeff Theerman, the Executive Director of MSD, knows the timing is not ideal. But he says we are in this position because we under-invested in a buried infrastructure for a “long, long time.”

The MSD Rate Commission, comprised of 15 members from the community, will ultimately decide if the hike should be approved and then make their recommendations to the MSD Board of Trustees.

There are four more meetings scheduled. Saturday, August 20th from 9:00 am to Noon at the Cliff Cave Branch Library, 5430 Telegraph Road.  Monday August 22nd, 6:00pm  to 9:00pm at Florissant Valley Branch Library, 195 South New Florissant Road.  August 24th, 6:00pm to 9:00pm at Herbert Hoover Boys and Girls Club. 2901 North Grand.  The final hearing is set for next month, September 26th 9:00am to 12:00 at MSD Headquarters, 2350 Market Street.
