SALEM, IL. (KMOX) – A charter bus crash on Interstate-57 near Salem Illinois sent 36 passengers to hospitals.

“The front tire blew causing the bus to drive off the roadway and strike a tree” Illinois State Police Master Sergeant Ryan Shoemaker told KMOX.

He says one person was airlifted in critical condition to Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.

Seven suffered minor injuries and were treated at a Salem hospital.

The rest were just observed and released.
