AUXVASSE, Mo. (AP) – Authorities in central Missouri say they’ve launched a homicide investigation after finding two bodies inside an Auxvasse home that was destroyed by a suspicious fire.

The Callaway Sheriff’s Department says the bodies found are believed to be the homeowner, 56-year-old Michael Wieberg, and his 33-year-old daughter Amanda Wieberg.

The medical examiner’s office says autopsies determined homicide was the likely cause of both deaths and that they both apparently died before the Friday morning blaze at the home.

Authorities say a van that Amanda Wieberg was believed to be driving was also found abandoned and set on fire. Her body was found Friday night, a few hours after the van was.

Investigators say they were interviewing neighbors, family, friends and associates of the suspected victims. Nobody has been arrested.
