ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Congressman Russ Carnahan (D-Missouri) released the following statement on the tenth anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001:

“Ten years ago today we experienced the worst attack on American soil in modern times. Today, we honor the victims of the 2001 terror attacks, their families, and first responders. This week, I had the opportunity to meet with World War II veterans from Missouri who flew to D.C. on an honor flight to visit the memorial dedicated to their fight. They told me how the country pulled together to face the great challenge of their time. We also have challenges and contentious debates. But, particularly in this time of economic uncertainty, and in memory of how we felt as a nation on September 11 ten years ago, that’s exactly the attitude we need to have now. To all the brave men and women risking their lives to protect our country, and to every American citizen working to make the nation better and more prosperous, thank you.”
