(KMOX)- Just over a month into the new school year it looks like the Parkway School District’s new class schedules could be changing again.

District administrators this week will ask the school board to move the high schools’ school day back ten minutes, the middle schools’ up five minutes and the elementary schools’ up ten minutes.

Spokeswoman Cathy Kelly says that under the new  schedule installed in August, up to 30% of students were getting to school late.

She says that’s because the buses didn’t have enough time to pick up and drop off one tier of students, before picking up the next, “One bus driver may transport high school students, then middle school students and then elementary school students. We found we need about 45 minutes in between each of those bus tiers to get students to school on time.”

Under the new schedule the tier one schools would be in session from 7:35 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.  The tier 2 schools would be in session from 8:20 a.m. until 3:15 p.m. and the tier 3 school day would run from 9:05 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Kelly says if approved the changes will take effect in mid-October.
