Quilts? I admit I was NOT expecting the amazing fiber art on display at the Foundry Art Centre in St. Charles. It was an honor to serve as honorary co-chair for Safe Connection’s presentation of Quilt National 2011. We kicked off the festivities Sunday afternoon.

Since 1988, this exhibition has shown the best of international fiber art and this year, 79 pieces were selected from more than 1,000 entries submitted from around the world. The only Missouri entry selected is by Luanne Rimel of St. Louis!

Quilt National 2011 runs through November 4 at the Foundry Art Centre in St. Charles and directly supports the services of Safe Connections, a fantastic local organization that works to prevent and end domestic and sexual violence and support survivors. They also have branched out into dating violence among teens, which unfortunately is quite prevalent.

Along with the exhibit is an artists’ series, which includes Luane Rimel!
