ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Missouri Congressman Lacy Clay has a bet riding on the Cardinals winning the National League Championship Series.

He’s confident that the Redbirds will take one of the final two games with Milwaukee, and when that happens, Wisconsin Congresswoman Gwen Moore will have to pay up, “It looks like she’s going to provide me with a case of beer and some bratwurst from Milwaukee.”

St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay and Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett also have a friendly wager on the series.

Slay says either Barrett or he will designate a Rotary Club fellowship to honor local public service.

  1. Ed Golterman says:

Their best bet Downtown and for its economic health is being strangled its first month of operation and ion he table to ‘sweeten’ the pot for a prospective buyer of the financially failed hockey team. Mr.Slay and Mr. Clay – block the sale of the opera house to a Chicago businessman. Chicago has its own opera house and it is not as good. The great place is vitally needed so we can compete with Kansas City who just opened the Kauffman, and the other mid west cities who offer downtown performing arts centers. After the Cardinals come the winters, and pretty bleak Downtowns. Kiel-Peabody is the catalyst.
