ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) — Sunny and absolutely beautiful this weekend with highs in the 70s, but what does mother nature have in store for us this winter?

Mike Halpert with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says La Nina will play a major part this winter season. That generally means dryer and warmer conditions for the south, and colder and wetter conditions for the north.

However for us, being in the middle, we’re kind of in the battle ground.

“There is one forecast,” said Halpert. “Meaning it could go either way, if the jet stream shifts far enough to the north you end up in the warmer section, and if it doesn’t shift to the north you end up in the cooler and wetter section.”

There was a La Nina pattern in place last season, but to try and figure out where the jet stream will dominate “would be pretty much impossible.”
