ST. LOUIS (KMOX)-A St. Louis man is charged with shaking his three-month old son so violently, it left the boy in very critical condition with extensive brain injuries.

Police say that 48-year-old Rufus Little told officers it happened Thursday while he was watching the baby and two other children, ages two and five, at his home in the 4400 hundred block of St. Louis Avenue. He says he got frustrated with the older children and the baby started crying, so he shook the infant violently until he stopped crying.

Little tells officers he put the baby in his crib and when he checked an hour later, the child was unresponsive.

The child’s mother was at school at the time.

Little is charged with first degree assault and child abuse.

Mothers must be careful about who they have caring for their children. Today’s working parents are using hidden cameras and nanny cams to see what’s going on at the home when the parents are at work. If you must have a babysitter or nanny look after your kids, the children should remain in your home so you can install a hidden nanny cam to monitor the care your child receives.
