ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) — We now have more information about the timing of rehabilitation work that will shut down part of the Blanchette Bridge next fall.

MoDOT officials now say that Walsh Construction company will close the westbound I-70 Blanchette Bridge and relocate those lanes to the eastbound span no earlier than November 1, 2012.

They’ll pinpoint an exact date once the manufacturing of steel for the new truss and approach spans is complete.

Weather at that time could also affect the shutdown date.

Once the project gets underway, three lanes of eastbound and three lanes of westbound I-70 traffic will be sharing the eastbound side of the Blanchette.

Lanes will be reduced to 11-feet with no shoulders and the speed limit on the bridge will only be 45 miles per hour.

Crews expect the project to take less than one year to complete.
