ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – A St. Louis man is now charged with trying to abduct a 15-year-old girl in South St. Louis.

St. Louis Metropolitan Police said the victim was forced into a car in the 7500 block of Pennsylvania around 6 a.m. Monday.

A police report shows the suspect, 26-year-old Charles Smith, first robbed the girl then began using a box cutter to try and remove her clothes.

The victim fought off the man and was able to get out of the car.

Police say they arrested the suspect in the 800 block of Van Buren later Monday.

St. Louis Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce says Smith is charged with Attempted Forcible Rape, Robbery, Kidnapping, and three counts of Armed Criminal Action.

He was jailed without bond.

This is a reminder to everyone especially the parents to educate their kids about child abduction issues that is so rampant these days. I am a parent and I’m worried and I don’t want that any kid to experience this. As a way of helping everyone especially the parents, who still find it quite hard to manage issues like this, I found this great application which featured a safety app which gets me connected to a Safety Network or escalate my call to the nearest 911 when needed, it has other cool features that are helpful for your kids with just a press of a Panic Button.
