ST. LOUIS (KMOX) –  Not only will it get you safely to and from Saturday’s Mardi Gras festivities in Soulard, but this year’s $5 pass from Metro has become a collector’s item.

“They are very colorful with a new Mardi Gras theme that we created, and they’re on a lanyard,” points out Metro spokesperson Patti Beck. “So it’s going to be a lot easier for riders and revelers to hang on to their pass.”

In previous years the passes were printed on paper and were disposable.

Mardi Gras shuttle passes will be valid from 9 am to midnight on Saturday, Feb. 18th for roundtrip service between Soulard and the Civic Center MetroLink station at S. 14th and Spruce.

On the flip side of the pass is a coupon good for $2 off an adult ticket for the Journey to the Top of the Arch tram ride.

“A lot of people don’t know Metro operates the trams at the Arch,” Beck points out.

The passes are on sale now at the MetroRide store located at 7th and Washington downtown.

They will also be available on the day of the official Mardi Gras celebration – Saturday Feb. 18th – from 7 am to 8 pm at the following Metro transit center locations:

North Hanley, Delmar Loop, Central West End, Clayton, Brentwood, Shrewsbury, Civic Center, East Riverfront, 5th and Missouri, Fairview Heights, Memorial, Swansea, College and Shiloh-Scott.

The Mardi Gras passes are valid ONLY for rides on the Mardi Gras shuttles on Saturday, and are not valid on regular MetroBus or MetroLink service.

Mardi Gras shuttles will run every 15 minutes or less throughout the day until 11 pm, and then a less frequent time schedule to transport the last of the Mardi Gras revelers.

MetroLink will also be providing extra service that day.

Fifteen minute service will be provided from 8:30 am until 10 pm west of the Forest Park-DeBaliviere MetroLink Station to Lambert Airport Main Terminal, west of Forest Park-DeBaliviere station to the Shrewsbury MetroLink Station, and east of the Fairview Heights MetroLink Station to the Shiloh-Scott MetroLink Station.

John: This is great-how about something special for historic Kiel Opera
House, now Peabody-bringing ‘quality of life’ back to Downtown. And have you rerouted your downtown Trolley by there, yet. This is as much to celebrate
as the Arch, Mardis Gras or the Cardinals. How about restoring express bus
service to MUNY, primarily for senior citizens but for all?
