WILDWOOD, Mo. (AP) – An autopsy is planned on a man who died while salting and plowing roads in a private subdivision in the St. Louis County town of Wildwood.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that 54-year-old George Janke of Villa Ridge and another man were on Bartizan Drive as snow was falling Monday afternoon. St. Louis County police say Janke climbed into the bed of the pickup to fix the salt spreader when the pickup began to slide down a steep incline and crashed into a retaining wall.

Janke was thrown from the truck bed and fell on the pavement. He was taken to Mercy Hospital and died later Monday.
