TROY, Mo. (KMOX) — Her estranged boyfriend is now behind bars, accused of tossing her into the trunk of her BMW earlier today and driving off.

But the Troy area woman got out, pulling on a “drop string” that opened the trunk from the inside, allowing her to alert police near Wright City.

The suspect, 22-year old Jon Paul Heinz, was arrested in Bloomington, Illinois this afternoon.   He is charged with kidnapping and was being held on a $50,000 cash-only bond.

Earler today, the woman says she was riding in her BMW when she noticed her trunk bob open, got out and was wrestled inside the trunk by a masked man who slammed the lid shut and drove off.

The woman escaped unharmed at a gas station near Interstate 70 and highway J.  The Lincoln County Sheriff’s office says she ran to a stranger’s vehicle who gave her a ride to the nearest police station.

The Sheriff’s office says the suspect had an earlier incident with the victim.   On February 8th, he allegedly “struggled with her” at St. Charles Community College in Cottleville, Mo, leading to a court order of protection.

Police are still searching for the woman’s 2008 dark grey BMW with Missouri License Plate PJ3 M2A.
