CHARLESTON, Ill. (AP) — New documents show vandalism to chemistry labs at Eastern Illinois University cost more than $367,000.

The Herald and Review in Decatur reports Thursday that university Board of Trustees agenda documents detail the costs. The board is to consider the issue at its meeting on Friday. The price tag includes replacing high-performance equipment that was damaged, but doesn’t cover cleanup and other costs.

The vandalism to the chemistry labs and classrooms happened during Thanksgiving break. It also damaged faculty research projects. At the time university officials said the vandalism was a shock and that some faculty members would have to start their research from scratch.

  1. High Speed Dome Camera says:

High speed dome cameras are effective at monitoring large facilities like this one and should be placed in multiple locations around campus. These advanced security cameras are compatible with existing surveillance systems already in use. Usually, just the presence of visible security cameras will deter the vandalism such as what occurred at the university.
