ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) — Washington Avenue’s graffiti problem may be coming to an end.

Three suspects were taken in to police custody over the weekend thanks to several security cameras put in place by the Downtown Partnership.

The network of downtown businesses paid an extra tax for the cameras.

Police say the vandals tagged 27 buildings and other surfaces along the popular strip. Most of the graffiti has since been cleaned up.

St. Louis Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce says the cameras are great and excellent evidence to help get a conviction.

The Downtown Partnership plans to put up even more cameras.
