KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP)— A central Missouri woman has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for taking part in a sex trafficking conspiracy in which a minor girl was sold into prostitution.
The U.S. Attorney’s office says 40-year-old Brandy Key, of Columbia, won’t be eligible for parole under the sentence she received Monday in federal court.
Key and 37-year-old Eric Gathings, also of Columbia, pleaded guilty to sex trafficking charges last October.
Prosecutors said Gathings admitted recruiting a homeless girl in 2009 and giving her a place to live while she sold herself for sex and gave him the earnings.
Authorities said that while Gathings was in state custody on a weapons charge, Key continued to sell the girl for sex on his behalf.
Gathings was scheduled for sentencing Tuesday.
