ST. LOUIS (KMOX) –  With flu numbers still rising locally, another appeal for everyone to get their flu shots has gone out from the local medical community.

“It is not too late,” says Pam Breitweiser with the Visitation Nurse Association of Greater St. Louis. “It is never too late. With flu peaking now, the season could probably go easily into May.”

Breitweiser says children across the St. Louis region are being hit with the “A” strain of the virus — which usually doesn’t impact young kids as much as we’ve seen this year.

“Children are essential in getting flu vaccines,” she adds. “I mean, if we can keep kids vaccinated we can keep a lot of other people healthy.”
