ST. LOUIS (AP) — A man is being treated at a St. Louis-area hospital after being shot in the leg while his car was stopped on a Mississippi River bridge.

KMOV-TV reports that the shooting happened around 1:15 a.m. Tuesday on the Poplar Street Bridge. Authorities say a woman and her son were in the car and stopped to see if they had a flat tire.

The woman claims that while stopped, someone drove by and shot her son in the leg as he was checking the tire. The woman was not injured.

The victim was able to get back into the car and drive into Missouri, where they called authorities. An ambulance took him to a hospital.

Police have no suspects.
