Over three-hundred-people will lose their jobs at ATK Sporting Group in Jefferson County.  The parent company, out of Anoka Minnesota, would not do an interview with KMOX, instead it released the following statement.

On March 28, 2012, ATK announced the closure of its Onalaska, Wisconsin location and a scaling back of its Fenton, Missouri facility. The company notified a total of 455 employees in its Sporting Group that they would be part of a workforce reduction resulting from this strategic move. The action was taken in order to focus on the group’s core capabilities, better align the organization to efficiently meet business needs and support forward-looking strategic initiatives.

The company will restructure to feature three total Centers of Excellence. Our new approach allows us to establish an optimal footprint for our business needs and gain necessary capacity for the future. We are proud to have operated in Onalaska and Fenton for many years and are grateful for the support we’ve received from these communities.

The company says the business is in Fenton, but Mayor Dennis Hancock’s office says, ATK is not in Fenton’s City limits.
