FLORISSANT, Mo. (KMOX) –  Police in Florissant didn’t have to look far in their search for a suspect in Sunday’s vandalism of an historic jet fighter outside the James J. Eagan Civic Center.

Officers responded to reports of the jet, an Air Force F-101F “Voodoo” restored and put on display in 2004, being attacked with Molotov cocktails.

The cockpit suffered damage when it was struck by a flammable liquid that had been poured into a beer bottle and set on fire, and flames were still burning when officers arrived on-scene.

After getting a description of possible suspects, one officer found a 17-year-old boy hiding behind a nearby tree.

The youth was taken into custody and later confessed, but police are looking for others who took part in the attack.

It was the second time over the weekend that police were called to the Eagan Civic Center — the same jet was found with graffiti and scorch marks early Saturday morning.
