MAPLEWOOD, Mo. (KMOX) – Police in Maplewood have arrested a man accused of stealing two bronze plaques from Maplewood Richmond Heights High School Monday.

Detectives say a 63 year old St. Louis man cut up the two plaques into 35 to 40 pieces then sold them to a St. Louis scrape company.

Each plaque was roughly 12-x-18 inches and welcomed visitors to the MRH High School-Middle School campus.

The case was forwarded to the St. Louis County Persecuting Attorney’s office. Charges are pending.
