ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – The Campaign for Working Families announces it will give a “six-figure” independent expenditure to Missouri Republican Todd Akin’s Senate bid.

The political action committee’s head, Gary Bauer, says Akin is a Ronald Reagan conservative who believes in a strong national defense, strong families, and pro-growth economic policies. Bauer is a former presidential candidate.

Bauer says Akin has an exceptional record in Congress that should not be nullified by one statement for which he has sincerely apologized.

“He is the epitome of Missouri’s common sense conservative values and represents real change from the failed Obama/McCaskill policies,” Bauer said in a press release.

“Seventy-one percent of Missouri voters rejected Obamacare’s individual mandate. Claire McCaskill voted for it. Seventy-one percent of Missouri voters supported a constitutional amendment to protect traditional marriage. Claire McCaskill opposed it.”
