ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – The local chapter of the Council on American Islamic Relations has launched a digital billboard campaign to educate Missouri and Southern Illinois residents about the legacy of Islam’s Prophet Muhammad.

One billboard is on Manchester near the Mason Rd. intersection. The other is located off I-70 and Fifth Street in St. Charles, facing west.

The billboards ask motorists to go to to find out more about the Prophet Muhammad and to get a free DVD.

Local CAIR spokesman Faizen Sayed says this is, in part, a response to unrest in the Arab world over an anti-Islam video.

“We believe this should be the accurate response, not the response of violent protests,” Sayed said. “When you have these kind of anti-Islam films, or anti-Islam whatever it is, that you response with a positive message by informing people on who you are and what you stand for.”
