DETROIT (KMOX)- You may have seen #41 take the mound for the New York Yankees during Game 3 of the American League Championship Series, Tuesday night. But, did you know he’s a Hazelwood West High School (Mo.) alumnus?

David Phelps is in his rookie season in the major leagues.

The right-handed pitcher was born in St. Louis in 1986.

Phelps was Baseball America’s top-ranked high school senior baseball player in Missouri in 2005.

The University of Notre Dame alumnus posted a 4-4 regular season record with the Yankees in 2012 with a 3.34 ERA and 96 strikeouts.

Coming into Tuesday night’s play he was 0-2 in the postseason with an 8.10 ERA.
