
“The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2” had a colossal opening weekend taking in $141.3 million. It was the eight largest weekend opening of all-time. “The Twilight Saga” franchise has become one of the richest in the history of the movie business.
The new James Bond motion picture “Skyfall” came in second with $41.5 million, giving it a domestic total of $161.3 million for just two weeks in release.
The new movie from Steve Spielberg,” Lincoln,” which is on much fewer screens than the first two films this weekend because of running time and content, was in third place with $22.5 million. “Lincoln” is considered a top contender at the Oscars, as is it star, Daniel Day-Lewis.
The popular and well-reviewed animated feature “Wreck-It Ralph” came in fourth with $18.3 million giving it a grand total of $121.5 million for three weeks.

Opening Wednesday is a 3-D movie from Director Ang Lee that is considered Oscar material on several fronts, including special effects, “Life of Pi.”
On Friday, Anthony Hopkins can be seen in the new biographical film, “Hitchcock.”
