Belleville, IL (KMOX)–The Belleville Police Department is asking for the public’s help in catching a man they believe committed three armed robberies in 24 hours.

Police say the suspect robbed the Cheap Cigarette Store on Sherman Ave. and several customers, at 2:30 Friday afternoon, and the Dollar General Store in Wade Square around 7:15 Friday evening. There, he fired a shot before fleeing but no one was injured. Then shortly before 4:00 Saturday morning, the suspect robbed the Royal Heights One Stop at gunpoint and fled the store.

Police think he may be responsible for two other recent robberies and could be working with an accomplice.
The suspect is described as a tall, thin black male between the ages of 20 and 30, wearing blue jeans and a hooded jacket.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Belleville Police at 618-234-1218.
