ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) — It didn’t take a St. Louis County jury long to find a North County man guilty of raping and robbing a 79-year old woman.

Despite 25 year old Dary McCoy’s family members providing an alibi for him it was DNA evidence that convicted him and the jury on Thursday, did it in just two hours.

McCoy, posing as a repairman duped the woman into letting him into her home on the night of June 10th, 2011. He pulled a gun, raped the woman, and forced her into a closet. He made off with money, a diamond ring and a gun the woman kept for protection.

Police thought they had a cold case on their hands until the lab came back with the DNA evidence on the woman’s robe that linked McCoy to the crime.

McCoy will be sentenced in late March on the charges of rape, sodomy, first degree robbery and three counts of armed criminal action.
