ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – It has happened again: an accidental donation of money to Mers Goodwill.

$5,000 was found by an employee yesterday at the Sunset Hills store in the 10000 block of Watson Road. “One of our processors who was going through donations that we had received found, contained in that donation, $5,000,” Mers Goodwill Assistant CEO Dave Kutchback said.

Kutchback added that surveillance video of the store is being reviewed “with regards to who may have donated that particular item so we can find that donor.” He said the donation was made Wednesday between two o’clock and five o’clock p.m.

If this story sounds familiar it is because last year $14,000 was accidentally donated to Mers Goodwill and the owner was later located. If the money is not claimed within 30 days, the money will go to Mers Goodwill’s community programs.

“If they were going to donating that sum of money, I think they would contact us and say ‘I’m going to do this.’ Instead, it was just found contained within a donation,” Kutchback said.
