ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – The National Hockey League season has surpassed the halfway point and the new owner of the St. Louis Blues says the lockout has not caused fans to stay away from Scottrade Center.

“Attendance has been up. We’ve had one of the better increases in the league. Our gate receipt, we’ve had by far the largest increase in the league,” Tom Stillman said.

Stillman and his group of investors bought the team just before the lockout began last fall.

On KMOX’s Sports on a Sunday Morning, Stillman said the financial state of the franchise is improving but there is a long way to go for it to “make it and be successful in St. Louis.”

He said the team is hoping to fill empty suites at Scottrade Center and broaden its sponsorship roster.
