EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (KMOX) – A MetroLink robber met his match last week, committing a crime that’s landed him in St. Clair County Jail on robbery charges.

Police say a woman got onto MetroLink at the Forest Park Station and began texting on her i-Phone.  A passenger, 21-year-old Imani Shakoor of Columbia, Missouri, grabbed the phone and ran off the train at the East Riverfront Station. . .his victim right behind him.

The victim grabbed Shakoor by the hair and demanded he give her phone back.

Police say that’s when Shakoor stomped on the woman’s foot and ran down the station stairs, sprinting to the front entrance of the gambling casino nearby.

Shakoor apparently forgot casinos have security guards.  They promptly arrested him and held him for MetroLink Police.

Shakoor, who’s also wanted in St. Clair County for other crimes, is jailed under a 200-thousand dollar bond.
