ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – City Hall needs a fix up and Alderman Shane Cohn has a plan to do to so.

Cohn is proposing city residents be allowed to check off a little donation on their water bill or tax bills to fund a commission that would tackle a City Hall renovation.

City Hall may need up to $50 million in restoration costs, according to the alderman.

He says the building needs everything ranging from water leaks, cracked marble, peeling paint and a dirty exterior.

“If you go up on to the fourth floor you could see most of the water damage coming in from the roofing,” Cohn says.

Under the Cohn’s plan, city residents could voluntarily pay a little extra on their water bill, personal property or real estate tax bill to go toward a city hall restoration fund.
