NORMANDY, Mo. (KMOX) – Parents in the Normandy School District hope to get answers to their questions about student transfers during a special Normandy Board of Education meeting Wednesday night.

A week after hundreds of parents in the Francis Howell District spoke out strongly against the plan for their schools to accept students from the unaccredited Normandy district, Normandy parents will have a chance to speak out tonight.

The special board meeting with include a public comment period dedicated to the transfers and the board will update parents on the process.

Parents have until August 1 to apply for their students to transfer to an accredited district. If they choose Francis Howell in St. Charles County, Normandy will pay for transportation but many are applying at nearby north St. Louis County districts like Ferguson-Florissant and Hazelwood. Accredited districts have to accept the transfers as long as they have room.

Tonight’s meeting is at 6:30 p.m. at Lucas Crossing Elementary on Natural Bridge Road.
