ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KMOX) – St. Louis County Police recovered some of the money from the Lemay credit union robbery on Wednesday, but the search for the suspect continues.

Police found a “substantial amount of money” believed to be stolen from the First Missouri Credit Union on Lemay Ferry along Highway 40 around 10:15 Wednesday morning. Police, however, are not saying anything about how the money turned up.

The money was found around noon, nearly two hours after the hold-up.

Police did stop a couple of vehicles matching the getaway car’s description, a yellow Chevy, but came up empty.

The suspect did not display a weapon during the robbery, but he appeared to be on a cell phone while talking to the teller.

The suspect is described as a white male, roughly 30-years-old, with a goatee and police say he was wearing a black cap. Police say he is believed to be the only suspect.

Anyone with information should contact St. Louis County Police or Crimestoppers.
