BELLEVILLE, Ill. (AP) Police in Belleville have arrested a convicted felon who was wanted in Michigan on felony counts of intent to murder and other charges.

The Belleville News-Democrat ( ) reports that 21-year-old Okoli D. Staggers was arrested this week in Belleville by police who received a tip from police in Kalamazoo, Mich., that he could be heading there.

Police found Staggers at a Belleville residence and arrested him without incident.

He is suspected in the July 4 shooting of a 52-year-old man who was shot in the leg as he walked down the street. He is also charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and discharge of a firearm from a vehicle.

Authorities say Staggers will be extradited to Michigan.
