ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Just one month after undergoing heart surgery, St. Louis Cardinals broadcasting legend Mike Shannon says he’s “all good” and eager to return to the booth tonight when the Cardinals take on the Nationals.

Speaking with KMOX Sports Director Tom Ackerman Monday morning, Shannon was less interested in talking about himself than he was sizing up the team’s postseason outlook.

“I tell you what, if they can win four of these last six games at home, I’ll be tickled to death and I think that will get them in and they’ll win their division,” he said. “It’s going to be very difficult to beat this Washington team because they come in here with vengeance. The Cardinals beat them out last year and they would like to return the favor.”

Shannon thanked Cardinals fans for their thoughts and prayers during his recovery.

“It was so gratifying to hear from so many people. Cards, letters, and good wishes, and all the prayers too,” he said.
