ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) – John Goodman will soon become a permanent fixture in Union Station’s Grand Hall.

New owner Bob O’Loughlin said the actor and Affton native will narrate a 3D video presentation of the old train station’s history.

Its all part of the $66.3 million renovation planned for the station. O’Loughlin said besides the history lesson in the Grand Hall, there will be a Starbucks with a gift shop and model train inside, and the old Houlihan’s will become a high-end restaurant.

O’Loughlin says he wants to fill a lot of the empty retail space, 100,000 square feet, with what he calls unique shops, but some of the vacant space could become offices.

“[It has] high ceilings a lot of windows, I think an architectural firm or a startup company would fit really nice,” he said.

Other space inside the station will become the St. Louis Sports Hall of Fame, and the Museum of Transportation wants to expand its exhibits at Union Station as well.
