CHESTERFIELD, Mo. (KMOX) – Two months after two outlet malls open, Chesterfield city officials are budgeting for three additional police officers to help patrol the area.

The St. Louis Business Journal reports City Administrator Michael Herring says the city council has approved $150-thousand dollars to hire the officers full time with benefits and vehicles.

Herring says the outlets, Taubman Prestige and St. Louis Premium are expected to bring an additional 2.5 million to 3 million people and $200 million in sales.

He says restaurants are posting 10 percent to 11 percent increases in sales since the outlets opened in August.
