ROXANA, Ill. (KMOX) – Roxana Schools are opening their common areas, Sunday and Monday, to help the community deal with a Saturdy night crash that left one Roxana High student dead, and four others seriously-injured.

It happened at about 9:20 pm on Buchta Road in Bethalto. Police say the car carrying the five sped off the road and hit a tree.

Some of the young victims were thrown from the vehicle, others had to be extricated by first responders.

The victims names aren’t being released yet.

Grief counselors are being made available from 2-4 pm Sunday and 2-4 pm on Veterans Day.

BETHALTO, IL (KMOX) – A Saturday night crash in Bethalto leaves one teen dead and four others hospitalized.

Bethalto police say it happened around 9:20 p.m. in the 5000 block of Buchta Road. A car going at a significant speed left the road and hit a tree. Several occupants were ejected. The others were extricated from the vehicle. One was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say one of the victims was male. The other four were female. Their names and the conditions of the survivors are being withheld until relatives are notified.
