Looking like the world’s largest action video game, “Thor: The Dark World” starring Natalie Portman and Chris Hemsworth in 3-D and mega screen projection easily outdistanced all other movies at the box office with an opening weekend total of $86.1 million on 3,841 screens, more than any other motion picture in release right now.

In second place was the second-rate movie “Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa” at $11.3 million. The poorly received new animated movie, “Free Birds,” was close behind at $11.1 million.

The baby-boomers as buddies comedy, “Last Vegas,” was close behind in fourth spot at $11.1 million and “Ender’s Game” was fifth at $10.3 million. For more details on the box office numbers, click on the link below.

Opening this coming Friday is “The Wolf of Wall Street” starring Leonardo DiCaprio with direction by Martin Scorsese.
