ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) – The St. Louis area will host eight NCAA championship events between 2015 and 2018, inducing division I and II wrestling tournaments, two women’s gymnastics championships, two women’s bowling championships and a Women’s Frozen Four.

The 7th and 8th Division I wrestling championships to be held at the Scottrade Center will be in 2015 and 17.

In an interesting twist, the Division II Wrestling Championships at St. Louis University’s Chaifetz Arena in 2015, will be hosted by Maryville University.

The two Gymnastics Championships at Chaifetz in 2017 and 18, will be hosted by Mizzou.

Tropicana Lanes and Central Missouri University will host the Women’s Bowling Championship in 2015 and 18.

Lindenwood University will host the 2017 Women’s Frozen Four, at the Family Arena.

The St. Louis Sports Commission said recently approved amateur sports legislation in Missouri played a significant factor in them securing the bids.

“The awarding of these events to St. Louis is the product of tremendous collaboration and support from many partners, especially our academic institutions, sport venues and the state of Missouri,” said Chris Roseman, the Sports Commission’s vice president of events.

The NCAA is conducting a separate bid process for postseason basketball events, so site selections for the Men’s Final Four and preliminary rounds of the NCAA basketball tournament won’t occur until late 2014.
