NORTH ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO (KMOX)- A close call for a woman in north St. Louis County Wednesday, when her car fell into a water-filled sinkhole outside Jamestown Mall.

Black Jack Assistant Fire Chief Ken Corbin tells KMOX the roughly 70-year-old woman was driving around the parking lot when her car fell in, “Upon arrival we saw a vehicle partially engulfed in the sinkhole with water, which had risen up into the passenger compartment.”

Corbin says the woman was helped out by a passer-by. She was a little shaken but otherwise okay.

Corbin says it appears the hole was caused by one of the many water main breaks that are popping up around the area, “You can see water flowing heavily through the area…there was water up to the passenger compartment seat starting to, basically, engulf the whole vehicle.”
