ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – A fire death in north St. Louis is now being investigated as a murder.

Police say when the victim’s badly-burned body was examined at the city morgue, gunshot wounds were found on his head, chest, and leg.

An autopsy is planned.

St. Louis firefighters say the found the body inside a burning house in the 5300 block of Queens, early Saturday.

Police tell KMOX the house was believed to be vacant.

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – St. Louis fire investigators are looking for the cause of a deadly fire overnight.

The blaze broke out around 1:30 Saturday morning at a home in the 5300 block of Queens. Fire Captain Garon Mosby says the victim was a transient who has not been identified. One firefighter suffered an injury to the hand and was treated and released.

The fire caused extensive damage to the second floor. The cause has not been determined.
