ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – It was one of the first local efforts to increase minority participation in the construction industry, but now the “Association for Construction Careers, Education and Support Services” is calling it quits.

Associated General Contractors President Len Toenjes tells KMOX the “ACCESS” board has decided to cease operations, because others are carrying on the efforts it started ten years ago.

“The city, the county, various public agencies, various private sources take on more of a role in helping address adversity issues, address occlusion, address workforce and business development,” says Toenjes.

Toenjes says that while the work is not over, contractors are now able to meet and exceed minority hiring goals.
