ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Rick Stream is running for St. Louis County Executive.
The Republican State Rep. from Kirkwood officially filed for the office this morning, and then hopped in his car to head to Jefferson City.
“I have a job to do for the next eight weeks in Jefferson City to pass a budget and work on education bills,” Stream says. “Until then, I will work on those and on May 16 I will turn my attention to the St. Louis County Executive race.”
He says Republican leaders encouraged him to run because of his experience as a State Representative.
“A lot of budget experience—I’ve been in leadership and management all my adult life, and they think I can do a very good job as County Executive,” he says.
Expect Stream to tout the fact that, in the legislature, he’s been focusing on the budget and education. Right now, he says he’s working on a legislative solution to the school transfer scramble in the county.
