BOWLING GREEN, Mo. (KMOX) – A large underground natural gas pipeline erupted Thursday night near the town of Bowling Green in Pike County.

One Bowling Green resident told KMOX News his home shook and a deep rumble could be heard for hours.

Some 75 homes were evacuated.

There was no fire, but Pike County emergency crews had to wait for a pipeline crew from Kansas to stop the leak.

The pipeline is a major distribution line that even runs under the Mississippi River at one point.
