ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – It’s common for charities to collect school supplies or coats for those in need, but a Metro-East woman is collecting donations everybody needs, but not many people talk about – underwear.
Nancy Taylor is starting a charity in conjunction with the Community Hope Center that she calls “The Underwear Drawer.”
She tells KMOX News it is something she has been called to do.
“The Lord said to me, ‘Nancy, there are people without underwear.’ I listened, and he pretty much spoke to me. I couldn’t let it go. I just kept thinking about it, and thinking about it, and thinking about it.”
Taylor says she’s especially troubled that some children are going to school without wearing any at all.
She says though people do donate used items, nobody wants to wear used underwear.
“People donate groceries, money, clothing, but never new underwear,” she says.
You can donate new underwear or socks at the Hope Center in Cottage Hills – and don’t be shy.
“I don’t want to just hand-out the white skivvies,” she says. “You now, I like a little personality on my underwear.”
