ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – The republican race for governor in Missouri, with Tom Schweich and Catherine Hanaway, is already a heavy weight match. Now, possibly add the name Eric Greitens.
Greitens’ credentials are long: Navy Seal, Truman Scholar, Rhodes Scholar, founder of “The Mission Continues” and now he’s launched an exploratory committee for statewide office. UMSL Political Science Professor Dave Robertson says Greitens, even with his impressive resume’, will have to ramp up: “No matter what kinds of things he’s accomplished he’s wandering into an area where there are lots of technical skills that are connected to casting candidates in a negative light.” said Professor Robertson.
Greitens has not said specifically he might run for governor but has said the state lacks leadership and he wants to change that. Robertson also said Greitens could enter the Lt. Governor’s race to build a base and name recognition.
