ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – A 20-year-old woman was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver early this morning near Lambert Airport.
Sgt. Al Nothum with the Missouri State Highway Patrol says the black or dark-colored GMC, possibly a Sierra, hit Nicole Cook as she and a friend were walking on the shoulder along westbound Interstate 70 just after 1 a.m., then kept going.
Westbound lanes were closed for more than an hour near the Airflight Drive exit.
That’s led to an appeal to the hit-and-run driver:
“We would really like the individual who struck this young woman to give the Highway Patrol a call,” Nothum says, adding that they may not know that they struck someone.
The number for Missorui Police Headquarters is (636) 300-2800.
The vehicle will have damage to the front-left side.
